  • Lisa Holland-Wang

    Board Member

    Interim President

    Lisa Holland-Wang joined the Sunnyside Symphony Orchestra Board in 2023, currently serving as Interim President, and has been playing Clarinet in the orchestra since 2003.

    Trained as a lawyer and certified in Human Resources and Change Management, she has worked in public service her entire career, currently in Court Administration in Multnomah County. Lisa holds a Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in French and International Communications from Pacific Union College.

    Lisa serves on the board of Portland Adventist Academy, a private Christian high school. She serves on the Local Family Law Advisory Council for the Multnomah Central Court Family Law Division and the Family Violence Coordinating Council Civil Court subcommittee.

  • Barbara Bach

    Board Member

    Treasurer

    Barbara Bach serves on the SSO Board as Treasurer and plays second violin in the orchestra. She is a retired CPA and Certified Management Accountant and has extensive nonprofit management experience. Prior to retirement, she served as Grants Manager and Finance Manager for Rasmuson Foundation in Alaska, a $600M private foundation. There she managed over 700 active grants a year, reviewed nonprofit financials, and trained numerous nonprofit managers on accounting.

    Barbara has had a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations as Treasurer, Board Member, volunteer, and donor. She has been on the Board of Pride of Portland Sweet Adelines Chorus since 2019 as Finance Coordinator.

    An avid supporter of the arts, Barbara has hosted multiple concerts through groupmuse.com for local and international musicians.

  • Andre Wang

    Board Member

    Facilities Liaison

    Andre Wang has served on the SSO Board since 2016. He is also Principal Second Violin, a position he has held since the orchestra was established in 2002. Wang is General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs for the North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and an Adjunct instructor of Business Law at Mt. Hood Community College. He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Pacific Union College.

    Wang currently serves on the Board of Directors of Adventist Health/Portland, the Board of Trustees of Pacific Union College, and on the Oregon Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He previously served on the boards of the Portland-Suzhou Sister City Association and the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, also chairing their Government Affairs Committee.

  • Saori DeBruyn

    Board Member

    Fundraising Chair

    Saori DeBruyn joined the SSO Board in 2024 and serves as Board Member and Fundraising Manager. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal Performance from Portland State University and a Masters in Opera Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. She has sung with opera companies across the United States and internationally in Germany, Austria, China, and Japan.

    Currently working as the Data Coordinator for the Eugene Symphony, Saori has worked for several arts organizations in administrative positions, including as the Administrative Assistant for Cognizart by MetroArts Inc., which conducts a yearly Young Artists Competition and an Art/Music-focused summer camp for children.

    Originally from Portland, Oregon, Saori is half-Japanese, speaks fluent Japanese, and has a strong connection to Japan and the Japanese American community in Portland.

  • Catherine Williams

    Board Member

    Personnel Manager

    Catherine Williams joined the SSO Board as Board Member in 2025. She also serves as Personnel Manager for SSO, where she manages communication with the musicians including coordinating soloists, substitutes, and auditions. Joining the orchestra as a violinist in 2023, just one year after moving to Portland, Oregon, she currently plays first violin.

    Catherine began playing the violin at age 4 after both of her older sisters started learning, but it wasn't until her experience joining the local youth orchestra that she realized she loved violin. She went on to perform in the Swarthmore College orchestra, but after graduating, Catherine took a brief hiatus from performance to pursue a career in arts administration. Since then, she has rejoined the performance fold and continues to seek the myriad ways she can help make the arts accessible to all.

  • Bill Stivers

    Board Member

    Co-Librarian

    Bill Stivers joined the SSO Board in 2025 and also serves as Co-Librarian for the orchestra. He is an arranger, composer, and contrabassoon player in Portland, Oregon.

    Presently a Music Composition major at Portland State University, his focus is on bringing accessible and interesting music and arrangements to players of all skill levels, and sharing his joy of learning about western art music with others. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, into a religiously conservative working-class family, he chose to put aside music to earn a more secure living in technology and academia. Thirty years later he returned to school to close the circle: "Music isn't something we should leave to professionals. It's too important to the human experience, and as long as we're alive it's never too late to dive in."

  • Elisa Morelli

    Board Member

    Secretary

    Elisa Morelli serves the SSO Board as Secretary and also plays second violin with the orchestra. Currently an MBA candidate at Pacific University, Elisa studied voice at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, finishing her Education degree at Portland State University. She taught music in schools for 21 years and ran a small business with her late husband.

    Violin is Elisa’s primary musical instrument, and she started lessons at the age of 6. Spending a lot of her time through school on lessons and practicing, she also appeared as primary soloist for her high school orchestra.

    Elisa currently teaches private music lessons and is a board member and agent for a Black literary foundation, the Arthenia J. Bates Millican Literary Foundation based in South Carolina. A traveler to over 21 countries, two of her favorite movies are “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Finding Forrester.”

  • Rey Abolofia

    Manager

    Co-Librarian

    Rey Abolofia is SSO’s Co-Librarian and a clarinet player. He studied at the Eastman School of Music and received a Master’s in Music from Portland State University, magna cum laude. In 2008, Rey was presented with the PSU President’s Award for Outstanding Community Engagement, the highest award offered by the University President for Rey’s community volunteer work and investment in his clarinet students.

    A passionate middle school and high school teacher, Rey marked his tenth consecutive summer in 2016 as a counselor at Woodwind Camp at Wallowa Lake. He has appeared in recitals throughout the United States and in Europe and performs with the Mozart Trio, the Rose City Gay Freedom Band, and Classical Revolution PDX.
