About the Orchestra
Since 2001, the Sunnyside Symphony Orchestra has grown under the leadership of its Music Director, Travis Hatton, to become one of the premier orchestras of its kind in the Portland area.
The SSO has a deep sense of commitment to the community. Our objective is to perform quality symphonic repertoire at the highest level, and to make these performances accessible to everyone. Our orchestra members are highly qualified, all are volunteer, and all concerts are free of charge. This is possible only through the generosity of our audiences and the support of the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church, with which we share a partnership as resident orchestra and a common vision for quality music and community outreach.
The SSO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of the proceeds are used to offset the orchestra's expenses and further its growth.
